History of Kindred
In February 2015, after two years of looking for a place to make art, Kindred’s founder Angelique and her friend found their first studio in West London. But the rest of the big building where they worked remained empty.
So they called-out to art colleges and filled every other room with more artists. And after a while, the artists all began to know each other, and a culture of support and kinship grew. But the growth didn't stop there...
… because culture is a beautiful and necessary thing that takes root and continues to grow outwards.
Artists play a key role in aligning the mind, body and soul of communities
Communities form the foundation in our rich and complex eco system. Understanding the way human beings relate to each other and bond is fundamental to unite the collective willpower required to overcome the challenges ahead.
Artists act as a Keystone species
Over the last eleven years, Kindred has evolved by being attentive to the needs of its artists and responsive to our surrounding communities.
Kindred is a registered charity and our professional artists provide mentorship and work experience to disadvantaged young people to increase their chances of entering the arts. We believe that for art is to stay relevant, it needs to give everyone a voice.
