About us

A Creative Ecology of Artists, Makers & Dreamers

Kindred Studios is more than a workspace — it’s a living, breathing coral reef of creativity. A place where talented artists of all kinds come to work, connect and grow.

Rooted in a culture of kindness and support, all of our studios are part of a vibrant collective where ideas are shared, artists get to know each other and community is made.

Generosity fuels Kindred’s culture.

Kindred artists give back locally, offering their time and skills to guide and inspire young people through creative mentoring and hands-on experience.

We believe in the power of the arts to spark meaningful societal changes and bring people closer together. That’s why throughout the year, we create a host of uplifting events and creative workshops, for everyone to enjoy.

Come create. Come connect.

Come be part of something meaningful.

Four Pillars

A modern, glass building alongside a canal with boats, surrounded by green trees, under a blue sky with some clouds.

Recognising that artists need more than affordable workspace alone, Kindred has developed four core pillars of support:

Space

Access to private and shared studios, workspaces, and specialist workshop facilities that would often be beyond the reach of individual practitioners.

A diverse and vibrant group of artists seated inside a performance space, attentively listening to professional development presentation.

Social

A thriving creative community where artists build relationships, exchange ideas, and develop both social and professional networks.

Audiences and artists attending an art exhibition in a gallery displaying artwork on white walls. Some are engaged in conversations, with colorful hanging sculptures and framed pictures in the background. The atmosphere is bright and lively.

Learning

Free talks, workshops, mentoring, and professional development opportunities that support artistic growth and lifelong learning.

Exposure

Exhibitions, partnerships, and public-facing opportunities that help artists reach new audiences, build their careers, and generate income.

Artists are like bees. Bees make honey but also pollinate all of our agriculture. Artists make art and pollinate our culture. They are a vital part of our ecosystem, without them we would lose what makes us human.

Kindred Studios is part of a wider ecological movement, harnessing the transformative power of art to develop productive creative communities with core values of kindness, mutual respect and support which we believe has the potential to create lasting change for everyone ❤️

Our artists donate 1-2 days of their professional time, per year, to supporting local outreach and education. This generosity creates a significant impact in our neighbourhoods.

“For art practices to be relevant and to thrive, creative collectives need to represent and give voice to many communities, each with their own approaches and aesthetic sensibilities.'
